Version 8.0 Release Notes
Introduction
Thank you for choosing
GeometryWorks3D Features. This product uses SolidWorks®
new interface called Macro Features, which allows full integration of parametric
solids, surfaces, and curves. GW3D Features are created, edited, and rebuilt
just like a native SolidWorks® feature. GW3D Features
provides advanced class "A" curve and surfacing solution with
powerful parametric surfacing capability.
Using GeometryWorks3D Features
Minimum System Requirements
To run GeometryWorks3D Features, you should have the following:
- Windows XP (Intel)
operating system.
- SolidWorks®
2008 (SP2.1) or above.
- Disk Space required: 16MB

- Insert the GeometryWorks3D
Features CD-ROM into the appropriate drive on your computer.
- You may require
Administration logon.
- The Windows AutoPlay feature automatically
starts the setup program If you have disabled the AutoPlay feature,
perform these steps:
- From the Windows
Explorer, expand the directory folders on the GeometryWorks3D CD-ROM. You
will see the SETUP.EXE.
- Double-click SETUP.EXE
in this directory folder. This causes the GW3D Features Setup window to
be displayed.
- Start Up SolidWorks2008 with
or greater installed.
- Select the
"Tools\Add-In" menu.
- Select the check the box
beside "GW3Dfeatures" to begin using.
- Uninstall of the program is
completed through the Windows Control Panel and the ADD/Remove Program
function.
- NOTE:
The DEMO License is valid for 15 days only; you will require
another license to continue pass that period. (Contact your reseller for
additional time) * To acquire a permanent license select the "About
GW3Dfeatures" option in the Help main menu. The lock code will appear
in the license information panel. Copy the number down, this is required
to generate a permanent license for your computer. . (Contact your reseller
to purchase a license)
* After installing a permanent license, you must unload and then reload
GW3Dfeatures through the "Tools\Add-In" menu or restart SolidWorks.

Mirror Surface – Mirror a set of point continuous curves
(sketch or non sketch curves) .

Map Surface to Plane – Maps a surface/face to a plane using
various geodesic methods.

Map Surface to Plane Solid– Maps a
surface/face to a plane using various geodesic methods and then applying a
thickness.
Enhancement
·
Project Spline - Added option project a set of point
continuous a set of curves to a set of surfaces/faces using geodesics or set of
point continuous curves on surfaces/faces to a plane.
Network License Users – The network license is checked out the first time GW3Dfeature is used. You can release the license by removing the addin or selecting the option “Release Shareable
License” under the GW3Dfeature menu.
Known issues
All issues are related to SolidWorks API. SolidWorks and CAD CAM Components are working to resolve
all issues.

Cannot Edit Curve features by right mouse click
“Edit Feature”. All other ways are available.
·
Cannot use Curve Body MacroFeatures
(GW3D Feature) directly from the feature tree for SolidWorks
features.
·
Cannot Edit In Context in an Assembly.
·
The colors of preselected
entities or entities used to create a feature (during Edit Feature) do not
display correctly.
