Introduction
Thank you for choosing GeometryWorks3D Features. This product uses SolidWorks®
new interface called Macro Features, which allows full integration of
parametric solids, surfaces, and curves. GW3D Features are created, edited,
and rebuilt just like a native SolidWorks® feature. GW3D Features provides
advanced class "A" curve and surfacing solution with powerful
parametric surfacing capability.
Using GeometryWorks3D Features
Minimum System Requirements
To run GeometryWorks3D Features, you should have the following:
- Windows XP (Intel) operating system.
- SolidWorks® 2009 or above.
- Disk Space required: 16MB
GeometryWorks3D Features Installation Instructions
(for more detailed info see "GW3Dfeatures_install_guide.rft"
file)
- Download the GeometryWorks3D Features installation from the CADCAM
Components web site.
- Unzip the file.
- Double-click SETUP.EXE in this directory folder. This causes the GW3D
Features Setup window to be displayed. (You may require Administrator
privileges to run the setup.)
- Start Up SolidWorks2009 with or greater installed.
- Select the "Tools\Add-In" menu.
- Select the check the box beside "GW3Dfeatures" to begin
using.
- Uninstall of the program is completed through the Windows Control
Panel and the ADD/Remove Program function.
- NOTE:
The DEMO License is valid for 15 days only; you will require
another license to continue pass that period. (Contact your reseller
for additional time) * To acquire a permanent license select the "About
GW3Dfeatures" option in the Help main menu. The lock code will
appear in the license information panel. Copy the number down, this
is required to generate a permanent license for your computer. . (Contact
your reseller to purchase a license)
* After installing a permanent license, you must unload and then reload
GW3Dfeatures through the "Tools\Add-In" menu or restart
SolidWorks.

- 64 bit – GeomertyWorks3D Features supports
64bit SolidWorks.
- Fence Surface – Create a surface normal or
tangent to a set of surfaces thru a set of point continuous curves
(sketch or non sketch curves)
Enhancements
- Helix Solid – Added option to model a solid
tube in place of coils (at the ends or controlled by a law curve).
- Map Surface to Plane – Added additional geodesic
options.
- Project Curve – Added additional geodesic options
- 64 bit users – The license is only supported
by a USB Dongle.
Known issues
All issues are related to SolidWorks API. SolidWorks and CAD CAM Components
are working to resolve all issues.
- Cannot Edit Curve features by right mouse click “Edit Feature”.
All other ways are available.
- Cannot use Curve Body MacroFeatures (GW3D Feature) directly from
the feature tree for SolidWorks features.
- Cannot Edit In Context in an Assembly.
- The colors of preselected entities or entities used to create a feature
(during Edit Feature) do not display correctly.
